Neurological Wellness Day Galway

Dear friends,

We are delighted to invite you to attend our upcoming Neurological Alliance of Ireland (NAI) ‘Wellness Day’ in Galway, aimed at promoting wellbeing when living with a neurological condition.

Member organisations of the NAI have once more come together to organise this event which will take place on Monday 28th April in the Clayton Hotel.

It will take the format of morning and afternoon workshops on various aspects of wellbeing such as nutrition, relaxation techniques, stress management and self-management, in addition to a number of information stalls relevant to both people living with a neurological condition, and their families.

Structure of the day

 

09.45am:              Registration, tea/coffee

10.20am:              Welcome/Housekeeping

10.30am:              Opening Address – Mike Corbett: Support Officer, Disability Federation of Ireland.

10.45am:              Mags Mullarney – Founder, Move 4Parkinson’s: ‘Living Well with a Neurological Condition’

 

11.30 – 12.30pm:                                              Morning Workshops (pick one)

  1. Healthy Eating – Marguerite O’Donnell, Consultant Dietician
  2. Stress Management – Michelle Murphy, Acquired Brain Injury Service, Rehabcare
  3. ‘Benefits of Yoga’  – Dave Cunningham, Galway Yoga Shala

1.00pm:                Lunch (at delegates own expense) and opportunity to visit information stalls and talk to individual groups

 

14.15 – 15.15:                                                     Afternoon Workshops (pick one)

  1. Self-Management – John Lindsay, Chairperson, Chronic Pain Ireland
  2. Neuro Physiotherapy – Marcin Uzynski, Physiotherapist, MS Ireland
  3. Tai Chi

 

15.30:                                                                    Close

 

Please note:

  • This event is free but people must make arrangements for their own lunch. A discounted lunch is available for €10 (main course, tea/coffee) payable at registration at 10.00am.
  • As numbers for this event are limited in order to facilitate people with a range of neurological conditions, places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

 

  • If you have a personal assistant please invite them to attend as staff will be unable to assist with individual needs on the day.
