Welcome to the Migraine Association of Ireland's new look discussion boards. This section of our site, we feel, is important as it is our members who are the experts - the individuals who live through this debiliating condition - and the ones we hope will share their experiences with fellow migraineurs.
If you have any problems using the boards, please email donnawalsh@migraine.ie.

Hi Mary,
Some people do find that over time the migraine triptans (imigran is one) can stop working. However, it cannot be predicted whether this will happen in every case. You should continue to take your medication as prescribed, but never more than you need to. As you are also taking a preventative, you should not need to use the nasal spray too often. The preventatives are often used for up to a year and then stopped once the cycle of attacks is broken. However, they can be taken on a more long term basis. Migraine is a very individual condition and so it can be difficult to advise on a case by case basis.
