Can anyone help?

I have suffered from migraine for the past 3 years. Had all the typical tests done like CT scan and MRI which were clear so neurologist diagnosed migraine. My problem now is that after a migraine attack I suffer with facial pain beginning behind my left eye, over the whole side of my face and sometimes moving to the back of my neck and down my arm. My headaches are always left sided never right. Sometimes this pain can linger on for weeks and is becoming increasingly worse with each attack.

Does anyone suffer with similar symptoms?

My doctor says he thinks it is side effect of the migraine but im not so sure myself. anyone any ideas?

Hi Moey,

There is a form of migraine known as 'facial migraine'. It usually occurs on one side of the face and involves pain in the nostrils, cheek, gums and teeth. Pain can spread to the neck, ears and eyes - and is often confused with cluster headache. Each bout can last from four hours to several days. Migraine medications are usually used to treat facial migraine. Some sufferers choose to see an orofacial expert.

Hi, I have "M" since I was 11, I am now 47 and like you I have tried all, MRI, CT........and always suffered Aura, but in the last year, (m can come right/left, mostly right side) my right side of my face falls, looks like I had a stroke, and my face feels so sore, it will last as long as my M approx 1/2 days, I have been told its all to do with M... just wanted you to know, you are not alone with this.

Hi i would just like to reply to your post, and also say you are not alone, I have had Migraine since i was a teenager, im now in my 30'S. When the Migraine starts, it starts in one place, and always the left side with me two. It continues sometimes down my left arm, and i could easily drop a glass as my arm becomes numb. Over the years it has started to move, which i believe is a good thing, but your not alone and yes left side face down to arm. If your arm becomes numb tie something around your wrist this helps to get movement back. I am on a preventative medication now called Lyrica, which seems to be keeping them at bay, i do still get them but afew weeks apart now, although Lyrica makes you very dizzy.
