Hi there,

I have suffered with migraines with aura for over 10 years now and was prescribed amitriptyline - at the beginning i didnt care what medication the doctor prescribed me as long as the migraines stopped, i was in horrific pain, often pulling my hair out trying to relieve the pain, physically getting sick, collapsing and hallucinating. Over the years as my body has gotten used to the dosage the doctor has had to increase the medication - I am currently taking 100mg of amitriptyline a night.
I have recently been advised that my blood pressure has gone high - but before i allow them to prescribe me anything i wanted to do my own research.
Reading numerous articles on the internet i have discovered that amitriptyline can cause high blood pressure.

Has anyone experienced high blood pressure from amitriptyline?

Any info what so ever would be great.

Cheers

Hi Lee,

I'd recommed you call our Migraine Specialist Nurse on 01 7979848. She recently was awarded prescribing privileges so she is completely up to date on migraine medication and side-effects. She will advise you in the right direction.
